What is the Church? True meaning.

For the most part, we former Catholics associate the Church with building. When they say "I go to church" most have a building in mind. A building that Catholics see as a sacred place. As soon as you walk through the doors of a Catholic church, right at the entrance, you have what is called holy water. We have been led to believe, while still Catholic, that this water actually has the properties of holy water. If it did, people would actually be holy. But it's not, and this water has no positive properties, and knowing the occult history of the church as an institution and its fruits, I might even suspect that it has demonic properties to keep people in their sins.

Is actually the church as a building a sacred place?

"God who created the world and everything in it, He who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples built by human hands ²⁵ and does not take service from human hands, as if he needed anything, for he himself gives life and breath and everything to everyone" Acts 17

 

So it is an obvious fact that God does not live in any building.

What else is "church" as commonly understood?

The Roman Church is the same institution like the UN, NATO, etc. global organizations. The Church of Rome has its assets, accountants, real estate, companies, etc.

 

The last meaning of the word "church" is community and this is the closest to the truth meaning, unfortunately little known to Catholics, of which I was one.

Where did the word church come from?

The New Testament as we know it was written in Greek.

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew. Some short parts of the books of Ezra and Daniel are written in Aramaic. Only after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus were the books and letters of the New Testament written down. They were written in Greek because that language was widely spoken at that time.*

Greek was the main language of the Roman Empire, so several other Greek versions of the Old Testament were also written in the first centuries of Christianity.*

 

The word ecclesia has three meanings in the New Testament: the universal church (1 Cor. 10:32; 12:28; Phil. 3:6); the local church or congregation (Rom. 16:1; 1 Cor. 1:2; Gal. 1:2); the assembly of believers gathered for worship (1 Cor. 11:18; 14:19.23).*

There is no mention of a building in any of these meanings, and not because Christianity was just growing in strength, since the first church treated as a building was built in c. 300 AD.

By the way, it was destroyed only recently by the CIA's creation, ISIS.

So it was a private home, tailored for Christians. A modest, small house.

Back to the correct understanding of the church as an ecclesia, or assembly of believers.

Ecclesia has never been a term for a building, but has always referred to living beings, men and women, to people who are God's property. The church in the New Testament is primarily a community under God, "God's church" (1 Corinthians 1:2; 2 Corinthians 1:1; Galatians 1:13; 1 Thessalonians 2:14; 1 Timothy 3:5.15), which comes from Him and belongs to Him. The New Testament Church is also called the Church of Christ, the body of Christ (Col 1:24), of which Christ Himself is the head (Eph 5:23-24)

The church in its essence - ecclesia is a body composed of people gathered not by their own choice, but because of God's callA gathering of those whom God has called to himself, people gathered not to share their insights but to listen to the voice of their Lord.

 

The Bible is clear about where God is:

 

" For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I among them." Matthew 18

 

So even our not only reunions are congregation (ecclesia), But in the sense of an ecclesia as a community, this blog is a gathering of followers of Jesus. Of course, there are also some people who do not fully agree with the direction, so to speak, of the creator of the church. For example, let's say that the blog is read by about 20 people who deny Paul. So you could say that people from another church are observing the discussions in our church.

Just as there were many churches in the days of the early Christians, so it is now. The Lord Jesus gave letters to 7 churches in the apocalypse. Each of them was different.

It says a lot that The Lord Jesus will come for His Church...seize him. The Lord Jesus will come for His Church, His Bride. The word "rapture" as used here means: to take away. When will the rapture take place? It will be when the Body of Christ is completed, when the number of the believers.

Will the Lord Jesus come for the building? NO.

The deferential Roman church, usurped these words of Jesus in their lie, to build their church:

"You are Peter [i.e. the Rock], and on this Rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18)

 

The term rock is used in reference to God, but never to man:

- Deuteronomy 32:4 "...He is the rock !"

- Isaiah 44:8 "(...) Do not be afraid or dismayed! Have I not prophesied from of old and declared? You are my witnesses: is there any God besides me? or another Rock? - I don't know one! (...)"

- Romans 9:33 "(...) as it is written: Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of images and rock of scornand whoever believes in him will not be put to shame..."

Peter himself regarded by the Roman church as the rock as the foundation of their church spoke:

"(6) For in Scripture it is (the phrase): "Behold, I lay on Zion stone cornerstone, chosen, precious, and he who believes in it will not be ashamed!" (7)To you therefore, believers, be the glory! And for unbelievers this "Stone, which the builders rejected, has become the foundation of a cornerstone. (8) and "Stumbling stone and the rock (Petra) of depravity". They who disobey the word stumble; this is their fate." 1 Peter 2

 

 

The church is a community of faith in Jesus Christ. Not in the mother of God. The church is not a building. I, you, we are the church. If anyone claims otherwise, let them write in the comments based on the Bible.

 

It is also worth noting something peculiar to the Church of Jesus that is not found in the Roman church. Well, here we have with us RELATIONSHIPS. So did the apostles. In the Roman church, when we walk into a building called a church, we stand next to people with whom we have no relationship.

 

"The body of Christ" is not all mankind, but the community of saints, a gathering of those who love Him and treat His Word with reverence.
