The following tables show that before papal supremacy, not only did many nations recognize Saturday as the seventh day of the week, but the name of the day was close to the Old Hebrew "Shabbat"
Greco-Roman Week:

Only Rome gave the days names derived from the names of the deities, and so Saturn's day was called Saturday and the Sun's day was called Sunday.
The Slavs had a five-day week and it wasn't until Catholicization that the first day of the week was given the name "Sunday," which means "don't act."
Even the Polish name of the day Saturday derives from the Hebrew Shabbat, or day of rest....
“Saturday: the name is derived from the Sabbath, a holy day of rest celebrated by Judaism and some Christian churcheswhich runs from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday.”
