We are living in very hard times and it will get worse as the years go by. People hate each other, they spite each other, they are envious, their hearts are full of evil.
(7) Listen to me, you who know righteousness, you people in whose heart is the law! Do not be afraid of people's spite, and do not fear their ridicule, (8) For as a garment the moth shall devour them, and as wool the worm shall bite them; but my righteousness shall endure for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation. Isaiah 51
God through the mouth or rather pen of Isaiah has been telling his children for hundreds of years not to be afraid of evil men for justice will come and not much has changed.
The people around us behave like worms that have come out from under a stone and the light carried by the righteous shocks them.
These people will die.
Later in this chapter Isaiah writes:
“. (12) I, I am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal man, the son of man, who perishes like grass? (13) Have you forgotten the Lord, your Creator, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth? Day after day, you tremble before the obstinacy of the oppressor, whenever he intends to destroy. And where has the oppressor's obstinacy gone? (14) The enthroned will be quickly unleashed and will not die in the pit, and will not lack bread. (15) I, the Lord, am your God; I stir up the sea so that its waves roar: The Lord of hosts, that is his name.“
One of the names of God is Lord of Hosts, or Lord of the Armies of Heaven. God has his army. 2/3 of the angels remain with him.
People have been taught to see God as either an old man sitting on a cloud as in Catholicism, or a doltish Jesus full of misunderstood love.
But our God is a Powerful God, He is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. The Lord of the armies of heaven.
”
All our oppressors will be defeated sooner or later.
Whoever they are: whether at work or in government, God's judgment awaits them.
Look at how God's Word works. God through the mouth of Isaiah comforted His people, and now I through His Word comfort you.
I, I am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal man, the son of man, who perishes like grass?
