Alexa, Amazon's virtual assistant, last weekend had a 10-year-old girl touch herself to a live plug.
The suggestion was made via the Echo smart speaker after the girl asked Alexa for a "to-do challenge."
Alexa replied:
"Plug the phone charger about halfway into the wall outlet, then touch the exposed pins."
An Amazon spokesperson said CNBC on Wednesday that the bug had been fixed. Kristin Livdahl, the girl's mother, who reportedly lives in the U.S., described the incident in a Sunday tweet that included a screenshot of the incident that appeared on the Alexa smartphone app
According to CNET , the child reportedly asked the Amazon Echo smart device to offer her a challenge. Alexa responded by offering a challenge that "she found online."
Earlier this year, the so-called "penny challenge" emerged, a dangerous stunt that carries the risk of electrical fires and injuries. Amazon Echo products, which are operated by voice commands given to Alexa, are among the most popular smart home devices. But Amazon and Alexa have been criticized before, especially for privacy.
A potentially deadly challenge that Alexa clearly did not check, began appearing on social media platforms, including TikTok, about a year ago. This is dangerous because metals conduct electricity, and putting metal coins in a socket can cause violent electric shocks and fires, and some reports of loss of fingers and hands as a result of the challenge.
I can already see how those who take the mark of the beast will receive suggestions from Alexa to murder followers of Jesus.
Besides, even without Alexa, if they are plugged in they will lose their free will significantly.
Either way Praise Jesus.
